Hunter Park, headquarters for the Douglasville Parks and Recreation Department is an 83 acre park located at 8830 Gurley Road, just off Highway 5 in Douglasville. Park hours are 8 AM to 9 PM Monday-Sunday.

The newly renovated athletic complex includes seven ALTA certified tennis courts, ten multi-purpose ball fields, and twelve major league batting cages. Renovations also included over 650 parking spaces and over 1 ½ miles of sidewalks for walking and jogging. In addition, Hunter Park features 16,000 square foot Ike Owings Community Center and covered playground; a five-acre lake surrounded by a walking track and several picnic areas.

Hunter Park is host to many festivals, sports activities and recreational events.

Baseball Fields

Hunter Park continues to offer a quality youth baseball program for the residents of Douglasville and Douglas County. This program started over 60 years ago and provides recreational and competitive baseball for boys and girls ages 3 to 14 years of age for both the spring and fall seasons. Learn more.

Disc Golf Course

The 18 hole course measures 5010 feet in length and is a Par 55. The course is a mix of open and lightly wooded holes. Moderate elevation comes into play on many holes. Course is on the shorter side with several holes over 300 feet and also including a long 485 foot par 4 tunnel shot. Learn more.

Tennis

Hunter Park offers 7 ALTA certified courts with bleachers for spectators and a pavilion with restrooms and shaded area. Learn more.

Horseshoe Pits

Hunter Park has four horseshoe pits. If you are looking for a fun leisure activity, swing by the park. You can bring your own shoes or rent a set for $7. If you are interested in hosting a tournament please contact Algenon Wilson at wilsona@douglasvillega.gov or 770-920-3007.

Military Honor Garden 

Hunter Park hosts the gorgeous Keep Douglasville Beautiful Military Honor Garden.

Republic F-105 Thunderchief

Hunter Park is named after Lt. Robert G. Hunter (1941-1966) who flew many combat missions in Vietnam in a Republic F-105 Thunderchief. Hunter Park displays a retired Air Force version of the aircraft to honor Lt. Robert Hunter and all our Vietnam veterans. You can read more about Lt.
